（中央社記者黃國芳嘉義市21日電）嘉義市長涂醒哲父親涂炳榕享壽90歲辭世，今天舉行公奠儀式，總統當選人蔡英文出席弔唁，場面肅穆隆重。
涂醒哲父親涂炳榕於今年2月5日辭世，享壽90歲，涂炳榕與妻子涂侯彩娥育有4名子女，2014年底涂醒哲競選嘉義市長期間，涂侯彩娥因病去世。去年母親節，涂醒哲特別為父親「浴足」表達孝思。
涂醒哲敘說父親一生作育英才、桃李天下，自北興國中數學老師退休；很喜歡交朋友，對台灣民主改革之路，也默默付出，除了奉獻一個市長兒子，在總統選舉投票日，住院的他特地回到嘉義縣朴子老家投下神聖一票給蔡英文。
涂炳榕公奠儀式於上午在嘉義市立棒球場停車場舉行，蔡英文特別到場弔唁，包括立法院長蘇嘉全、監察院長張博雅、嘉義縣長張花冠、前行政院長謝長廷、前嘉義市長張文英等人前往致意，場面肅穆隆重。
涂醒哲說，父親一生最大的資產是學生，前法務部長蕭天讚也是其中一位；一路為台灣民主默默付出的父親，今天若地下有知，有那麼多位民主前輩到場送別，一定會很高興；父親火化後，骨灰將移回朴子老家的家族墓園。1050221
